Daily Maintenance Procedures for Student iPads

As the Uniontown Area School District strives to provide the best educational experience possible for all of our students, we have found that it is important that you are proactive in maintaining your district provided iPad.

Here are a few daily maintenance procedures that we recommend:

One way to keep your iPad operating effectively is to clear you web browser’s history daily. All of the stored web browser data that accumulates can cause your iPad to operate slowly and make functions like downloading, Teams conferencing, and video streaming unreliable.

Directions

  1. Log out of Canvas.
  2. Clear the browsing history from Chrome.
    • Open the Chrome app on your iPad.
    • Select the Chrome menu button (three horizontally-aligned dots), located in the upper-right corner of the browser window and select Settings in the drop-down menu.
    • Select Privacy.
    • On the Privacy screen, select Clear Browsing Data.
    • At the top of the Clear Browsing Data screen, select a Time Range for the data you’d like to delete. Select “All Time”.
    • On the Clear Browsing Data screen, select each of the categories of data that you want to clear by placing a checkmark next to it. After making your selections, select Clear Browsing Data at the bottom of the screen and confirm the deletion. The data clears from all the devices you have synced to Chrome.

  3. Log out of all websites and close your web browsers (Chrome) at the end of each day.
  4. Completely close out all of the apps on the iPad (double tap home button and swipe up on apps until they remove from the screen)
  5. If you are unable to connect to Teams for LIVE sessions, please follow the steps pictured below to turn on the clear browsing history setting in Teams.
    • Click on Settings icon
    • Scroll down to Teams App in menu on the Left and click on it.
    • On the right, make sure Clear All Data is turned on.  It will be green.

By properly maintaining your iPad, you can contribute to the district’s goal of providing a remote learning platform that is engaging, efficient, and beneficial to district students.
